A Kahuna’s attributes include core strength, balance, and excellent swimming skills. These surfers know how to fall into the drink without losing their cool. They quickly retrieve their board, hop on, and paddle to where the water is flat. Many surfers have been riding waves since childhood; their parents or friends taught them or paid for one of the many instructors. If the surfers are lucky, they live a few blocks from the beach and surf whenever they want.
